Bible Camp

OVERVIEW:

Bible camp is held at the Florida Bible Camp in High Springs, Florida approximately two weeks after the end of the public school year. It is hosted by a dedicated and vetted, all-volunteer staff of Christians working together to make each camper’s stay an enjoyable and spiritually-profitable experience. Activities include interactive Bible study, crafting, hiking, tubing, swimming, sports, and games, all in a Christian atmosphere. This is a ministry that combines the interconnective aspects of Christian life of the 1st century church and an outreach to youth regarding God’s Word.

Get Involved:

We need your support to make Bible Camp a successful ministry and have multiple avenues in which you can serve:

  • Bible Camp Staff Members (Counselors, Teachers, Athletic Managers, Cooks, Maintenance, Medical, Canteen Managers, and Assistants):
    • Must be a Christian and be willing to discuss God’s Word.
    • All staff members will comply with the Florida Level 2 Background Check
    • Comply with Bible Camp Rules and Policies
  • Donate to the Florida Bible Camp (Directly or through the church)
  • Provide Scholarships for Campers
  • Support Workdays at the Camp to prepare for the Summer Sessions

Bible Camp Rules and Policies:

No Cell Phone Policy: FBC has had a no cell phone policy at summer camp for sometime. In the past, we have not fully enforced this rule, but provided guidance on the use.  However, it has been decided that this policy will now be fully enforced. The goal inimplementing this rule is to create a safe and unplugged environment for all campers, freeing them from distractions to focus more fully on Christ and developing healthy relationships.

  • We ask that you leave your cell phones at home.
  • If you bring them, they will need to be turned in at registration to the FBC staff to be locked in the safe and returned on Saturday at check-out.
  • If parents need their child to check in with them, they may use a staff member's phone to call. The staff member must be present with the camper while the phone call is being made.

Dress Code: Bible Camp is an environment where each camper can focus on their relationship with Jesus first and with each other to God’s glory. To support that, we strive in a team effort to minimize any distractions from what God has in store for campers and staff alike during their stay at camp. Part of this is limiting temptation that is so prevalent in the world around us.  For this reason, we adhere to the following dress code that we ask staff, parents, and campers alike to follow:

  • Shorts must be worn with the waist band at the waist.
  • Shorts must be mid-thigh or longer while sitting (a good tool for measure is no higher the length of a standard credit/id card above the kneecap; this provides for the rise when one is sitting)
  • Skirt and slit lengths must be at the knee.
  • No open midriff, shirts must be below the waistline when arms are extended above the head.
  • No low-cut (no cleavage showing) or see-through clothing.
  • Leggings and yoga pants must be accompanied by an oversized/long shirt that will completely cover your rear-end
  • No sleeveless/strapless tops, No tank tops, No halter tops, No spaghetti strap tops, etc.
  • Girls: No swimsuits that reveal your waistline or cleavage. Cover-up must be worn going to and from the pool.
  • Boys: Must wear a t-shirt when swimming.
  • No clothing with any type of slogan or ad that does not conform to a Christian standard (i.e. tobacco, alcohol, suggestive pictures, satanic groups, etc.)
